How to evaluate an event?

Evaluation of Events
There are multiple stakeholders affected from an event and how they have been affected, requires to be analysed in a systematic approach. What goals have been decided before the event and whether the goals are achieved or not, to what extent the goals are achieved, how to assess the level of achievement, are questions requires the need to proper evaluate the event. The Trainer’s guide presents best way and example to evaluate an event properly. The revenues collected in the event and expenditures made pre-event, during the event, and post-event including the cost of evaluation; required to be quantified to derive the net financial benefit. The learning in the participants required to be tested to know the level of change in their knowledge, skills, and attitude.

Assessment of learning:

The knowledge can easily be tested by theoretical test or by interviewing the participants either in a group or at individual level. The skills can be tested by providing practical work after the event or by providing the cases during the event. The attitude is very difficult to disclose and it can be possible that the participants just pretend to have learning. How to assess the attitude, requires to use psychological tests, intellectual assessments by an expert, and assess their performance pre and post the event. The surveys after the event can help a lot.

Assessing Performance:

The questionnaire required to be designed in a proper way and the information also required to be analysed with best methods of statistics. The anticipated change and actual change in various parameters required to be assessed and the variance among the parameters pointed out logically, the effect of the event. The efficiency and effectiveness of carrying out an event becomes again an issue, the sponsoring organization always try to get maximum outcome from the cost they incurred in organizing the event while the organizers prove that they have put all efforts and realized the desired outcomes.....<<Continued...A trainer asks himself about the contribution made!>>
